Join the panellists for this pre-conference event prior to the 20th International AIDS Conference in Melbourne 21-25 July 2014.
The Seventh National HIV/AIDS Strategy has just been published and sets a direction for Australia to reverse the increasing trend for new HIV diagnoses. The strategy includes bold targets and works towards the virtual elimination of HIV transmission by 2020.
Over the last 30 years, through multiple national and state policies, what have we learnt about the Australian policy context, which can now inform actions to end HIV?
Are there lessons from other developed countries and examples of how the challenges in leading innovation in policy actions can be overcome?
How can policy development processes be informed and inspired by the latest evidence across science, health systems, health economics and the experience of affected communities?
Panelists include:
Colin Sindall, Director Prevention and Population Health, Victorian Department of Health
Lisa Power, former Director of Policy with the Terrence Higgins Trust, the United Kingdom’s largest HIV/AIDS charity.
Dr Graham Brown, Senior Research Fellow in the Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Socie, Latrobe University, a past President of the Australian Federation of AIDS Organisations and currently a member of the national Ministerial Advisory Committee on Blood Borne Viruses and Sexually Transmitted Infections.
The Deakin Public Health Policy Seminar series is targetted at senior researchers, academics and policy makers.
